The Art Club Exhibition

Curated by Zach Mory

November 18 – December 31, 2020.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin – The Frank Juarez Gallery is pleased to announce, “The Art Club Exhibition”. This exhibition features works by Melissa Cooke Benson, Scott Espeseth, Frank Juarez, Kendra Larson., Zach Mory, Rafael Francisco Salas, Morgan Sims, and Nathan Vernau.

The Art Club is an informal gathering of artists that initially began as a critique group of mostly UW-Madison graduates living in and near Chicago during the 2010s. After dissolving for a time, the group was reborn after Covid-19 forced us all into our homes this summer. Serving as an online forum where artists could show their work to other artists, get solid and honest criticism, give feedback, share a laugh, and have a drink became a weekly solace from social isolation. Each week the group would spend an hour or two and meet up via Zoom. Time was spent looking at artists' work while asking one another the big questions usually reserved for graduate school. Over the course of the summer, we were not only able to familiarize ourselves with the work of new artists, but we were also able to gain new friends and colleagues in the field.

This exhibition is the culmination of this Summer’s online critique group.
